QUESTIONS RELATING TO QST400 MODEL ELECTRIC GOLF CART WITH FULL REMOTE CONTROL OPERATION DESIGN Q What is special about this frame design? A About 10 years of experience. In one guise or another we have been selling this particular trolley frame. During this time improvement changes have been made to certain components however the basic frame design has remained unchanged. On a daily basis we supply components to users who purchased their trolleys 8 or 9 years ago. Q What is the frame of the cart made of? A All major components are of aluminum Q Are there any improvements in the new design of this frame? A Yes. Too many to mention here - it is stronger and of improved design. It now has a double frame section to the front wheel and redesigned, more robust, one piece wheel housings. Q Is the cart weatherproof? A Yes. It is designed specifically for use by golfers in all weathers. All electronic parts, switches, motors, and gearboxes are sealed Q Will I also have manual control over the forward speed of the cart? A Yes. Just set the speed using the high quality rheostat control knob at the handle - any speed from very slow up to about 4.5 MPH. When near the green, or cart paths, or around other golfers this is the method of control that you will want to use. REMOTE CONTROL Q What can I control from the remote control transmitter? A You can control direction - forward - reverse - left - right. Speed - faster - speed slower. Stop. This brand new remote control transmitter has been designed from scratch and is the most sophisticated remote control available Q Is it difficult to "key-in" this transmitter to the golf trolley computer controller? A No. A new replacement transmitter can now be easily "keyed" to the trolley computer controller by just holding it near the trolley and pressing a button Q What type of wheels? A The wheels are made from high-impact solid plastic designed to provide extra grip onto the fairway grass (see image). Wheels are 28” apart for superior side-hill stability. Q Can I get optional pneumatic tires? A Yes - both models can be supplied with the optional Air Tires are Q How much weight is transferred onto the fairway grass? A These are “turf-friendly” wheels, with wide tires to protect the turf. These carts have a ground pressure of less than 3 psi ELECTRIC MOTORS & GEARBOXES Q What type of electric motors are used on this trolley? A The motor and gearbox assembly on this trolley is the most superior motor/gearbox assembly available anywhere in the world today. Made by the LINIX corporation these highly upgraded assemblies are manufactured for quality and longevity Q What type of power train is used? A A completely new design! The two independent 200 Watt LINIX motors drive through horizontally opposed matched gearboxes - via the axle - through a specially designed positive drive-coupling (no more drive pins to break). Q Will I be able to push the cart in the event of a total power failure? A Yes. Just release the small catch on each drive-wheel - move wheel outwards slightly to the free-wheel notch on the axle. Takes seconds. CLIMBING POWER Q Our course is very hilly - will the QST400 have sufficient power to handle this? A Absolutely. Most carts of this type use 180 Watt motors - the QST400 is fitted with twin 200Watt motors - these have ample power and torque to handle the fairways of all hilly courses. See comments from some customers on the testimonials page Q Is it difficult to assemble? A Out of the box the only assembly necessary is to fit the front wheel to the frame - this is unmounted only to reduce the size of the shipping carton - tools supplied - four bolts - will take just a few seconds. Q For how long will the cart run? A The expected usable range of this cart will depend upon the elevations of the course and the current condition of the battery - under normal conditions this will be always be over 18-holes, and up to 27-holes for most of the life of the battery. Q What effort has been made to keep the cart straight during operation? A Everything realistically possible has been made to keep the cart straight. However this is a very subjective area and one that is almost not possible with a moving object with a small wheelbase of only 28" carrying an unevenly balanced load mostly on an surface that is not level. The whole point of a remote operation cart is for the golfer to be able to bring his clubs over to him when up to the ball - so as long as the cart is not in the way of other golfers, or near water, it matters little exactly where in the fairway the carts is, nor whether it travels in a straight line to get there. However if adjustment is considered necessary the angle of the front wheel can be adjusted with the axle securing bolts. Q What type of battery? A This is the best specification available - a "Deep Cycle" 12 volt 33 Ampere/Hour "maintenance-free" - sealed battery Q How long will it last? A Battery longevity is dependant upon many factors, so will not always be the same. The "Deep Cycle" battery will however provide longer life and more charges than regular batteries. Q What should I do with the battery when not in use? A Immediately after use connect the battery to the charger and charge it completely - usually at least overnight. Unlike the charging arrangements for some other golf caddies, the battery can then be disconnected from the charger, and stored if not being used - for instance if not playing golf during the winter. There will however be a slow power loss, so it is important to recharge the battery every 2 to 3 months. Q Do I have to remember to check on the battery condition and disconnect from the charger? A No. This is completely automatic. The charger is a special 3-stage "intelligent" charger which monitors and controls the electrical input to the battery. The battery should always be charged after each round of golf. Simply lift out the battery and stand next to the charger – connect them using the small polarized plug. After use the battery should always be placed on charge in between rounds - the battery should then always be in good condition. Q What is the operating voltage of the charger? A Dual voltage. 110/240 volt input - 3 Amp output. Suitable for the US and European markets. SHIPPING COSTS Q How much will the shipping costs be and how long will it take? A Shipping dimensions are 30" x 29" x 15". Shipping costs are subsidized by Kolnex and are very reasonable. We ship regularly by UPS Ground to all of the US states and to Canada. See Freight Details. Shipments are made from Los Angeles and take about 3-5 working days - or even less to some Western states. Q Will I have to pay sales tax? A Sales tax at the current rate of 8.25% is applicable only to orders with a delivery address in California - all other order are exempt from sales tax. Q What warranty covers the carts? A A one-year warranty covers all parts of the cart with the exception of the battery which is covered with a limited warranty for a proportional period. See Warranty |
